Photo exhibition I Marlen Wagner “This is not a pointing gesture”.

@ Fraktalwerk Projektraum

The outstretched finger: Marlen Wagner’s performances question the unambiguousness of a gesture in ever new places. Primarily photos of performances in parks and nature found their way into the exhibition at the Garage Campus in Chemnitz as part of the project “Entangelments. Language of Angels. Gestures as mediators between cultures”. The performances encourage us to think about pointing out, pointing the way, pointing something, pointing to something, give direction to – but also about interpretation and sovereignty of interpretation and the difficulty of following the imperative of a finger pointing or not. “Finger pointers” that do not designate, do not impeach, do not accuse and do not blame – what do they point to, what do they “show”? We are pleased to present a selection of the photos.
