Coming soon: Open call for entries photo contest “Messages from angels”.
Advance notice: As part of an open call for entries, from the beginning of February we invite you to participate in the international photo competition Fraktalwerk 2022, as part of our project “Gestures as mediators between cultures”. The theme is “Messages from Angels”. This photo contest also addresses the twin cities of Chemnitz in particular.
We are looking forward to seeing the photos of that show: This angel has interested or attracted me with its message “in a special way”.
The winning photos will be displayed as prints in the Fraktalwerk exhibitions as part of the Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025, probably for the first time in July 2022.

Only entries that fully meet the conditions of participation will be considered for selection. By submitting photos, participants accept the conditions of participation:
Conditions of participation in the Fraktalwerk photo contest “Messages of Angels”.
The organizer of the photo contest is Fraktalwerk GbR, Kurt-Franke-Str. 12, 09123 Chemnitz.
All persons over 18 years of age may participate.
Technical requirements:
Only photos that comply with current legislation will be accepted for this competition: A photographed work – for example, the sculpture of an angel figure – may not be depicted altered in the photo. Participants agree to use only the usual photographic means of design. This includes the choice of image cropping, changes in brightness, color and contrast, focal length or exposure time. Subsequent modifications, such as the use of color filters, retouching or other means (compositing, montage, etc.) of digital image processing are not permitted.
The photos must be saved in the file format .jpg and reduced in size and sent by e-mail in a maximum size of 2 MB to: engelgesten(at)entangelments.de.
The original photo must be of a quality suitable for printing.
Photographic prints, photographic prints or digital image carriers sent by mail cannot be considered and will not be returned.
Fraktalwerk accepts no liability for loss or damage to submitted images or image carriers.
Entry Requirements
One photo per person may be submitted. These photos must not have been published before.
Pornographic motifs and content depicting or glorifying violence or other motifs and content that violate applicable law are excluded from the contest.
The e-mails containing the submitted photos must include a reference to the authorship of the photo, indicating the following

Street number
Postal code City
Age
Place where the angel was found
The files will be named as follows:
Photographer*in_the_job_title.jpg.
The closing date for entries is 30.04.2022 at 0 hours.
Photos submitted after this date will not be considered.
Rights of third parties
By submitting their entry, entrants warrant that they own all rights to the image submitted and that they have unrestricted copyright and exploitation rights to all parts of the image. They also guarantee that the image is free of third party rights and that no personal rights are violated in the depiction of persons. If one or more recognizable persons appear in the photo, they must agree to the publication of the photo. Express reference is made to the provisions of the German Art Copyright Act (Kunsturhebergesetz). The participants assure that they have the corresponding declarations of consent for such use and that they can also provide these in writing upon request.
Photos edited on the computer may not contain parts of images from the media (newspapers and magazines or, for example, the Internet). Participants warrant that the photo or its distribution does not infringe any image provider’s rights, trademarks, copyrights or design rights, privacy rights, publicity rights or other rights of third parties, or that it does not offend or disparage third parties.
If a model and/or property release and/or permission from manufacturers of commercial products (e.g. packaging, designer clothing, etc.) is required for the image, participants are responsible for ensuring that all necessary releases from property rights holders are available. If necessary, copies of these will be made available to the organizer. In the event of third party claims for infringement of their rights, participants shall indemnify the organizer for all claims and legal representation costs.
Grant of rights
Each participant grants Fraktalwerk the non-exclusive rights of use, unlimited in terms of space, time and content, of the submitted images for use in the context of the competition, the exhibition and the reporting thereof, regardless of the media (e.g. print or Internet, websites or social media channels). Publication will be exclusively on the Fraktalwerk project space’s websites, on its social media pages and in exhibitions for artistic and non-commercial purposes. Photos of the winners may be published in reports on the competition. Participation in the competition does not affect any other use of the photos by the authors at a later date, which is of course possible. Any other use of the Fraktalwerk project space is excluded.
Data protection
The photos will be published with the name and surname. The complete data will only be used to determine the prize and will not be published or passed on. Please refer to our privacy policy at https://fraktalwerk.de/datenschutz.
Determination of Winners
Five to ten winners will be chosen from all eligible contest entrants. Judging will be done by the Project Space team. The winners will be determined no later than 31.05.2022.
Competition prizes
Information about the competition prizes will be provided at the beginning of the competition.
Notification of the winners
Winners will be notified by email.
